Realtor Steve White Goes “Over the Edge” for The Caregivers
How far would you go for your favorite local nonprofit? For Verani Realty agent Steve White, the answer was 24 stories into the air. White recently participated in Live United – Over the Edge, a joint fundraising effort with over 20 local nonprofits that involved rappelling 24 stories down the side of the Brady Sullivan Tower on Elm Street in Manchester. This was the second year in a row that a representative of Verani Realty has made the trip down the tower through VeraniCARES, Verani’s social development and philanthropy arm.
Over 140 individuals took part in the challenge this year, and each participant had to raise a minimum of $1,000 for their nonprofit of choice in order to rappel. White raised over $1,500 for The Caregivers, Inc., an organization dedicated to helping the elderly and disabled in the Greater Manchester and Nashua areas remain in their homes as long as possible. Their services include transportation to appointments and the grocery store, a mobile food pantry, home visit and reassurance phone calls, and service projects and outreach.
“When I was given the opportunity to join Verani Realty’s tradition of going Over the Edge for The Caregivers, I knew I had to do it,” said White. “Seniors are an important part of our communities, and what The Caregivers and their volunteers do to help seniors stay connected is critical. From food to visits to transportation, they really do it all in order to give seniors friendship and help them stay independent.”
Other nonprofits that were represented included The Youth Council, Gateways Community Services, Family Promise of Greater Nashua Inc. at Anne Marie House, The Adult Learning Center, Granite United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NH, Bridges: Domestic & Sexual Violence Support, Greater Nashua Dental Connection, the United Way of Greater Nashua, Great American Downtown, Greater Nashua Mental Health, Girls, Inc., Nashua Soup Kitche and Shelter, Revive Recovery, Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity, and Marguerite’s Place.
White has been with Verani Realty since 1994 and is a director for the Greater Manchester/Nashua Board of REALTORs (GMNBR). He also chairs GMNBR’s Community Service Committee and serves on their Education and Professional Standards Committees. He is a member of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ prestigious Chairman's Circle, which recognizes top performers in the network, and was the 2013 New Hampshire State REALTOR of the Year. White serves on the Advisory Board of the Manchester Salvation Army and as a director for the New Hampshire Board of REALTORs. He lives on Pawtuckaway Lake in Nottingham, where he helps manage his family's cottage rental business.
