Celebrating community service throughout the month of May

Verani Realty agents give back across the region in unique ways to help their communities

With offices located throughout New Hampshire and Massachusetts, it is always a treat when we have the opportunity to come together for a great cause. That’s what our VeraniCARES May Day campaign is all about. We will be sharing stories of how the team at Verani Realty unites the various community service initiatives they spearhead across the state by representing a company of engaged, positive, and effective real estate agents.

What is VeraniCARES?

VeraniCARES is a program that Verani Realty agents and staff voluntarily participate in by making regular donations to a special fund that receives matching funds from the company. Funds are used on charitable giving opportunities that that focus on shelter and community-related organizations that we choose as a company. Donations range from a few hundred dollars for smaller projects to over $10,000 during Verani Realty’s first annual food drive.

• 45 percent of Verani Realty agents participate in VeraniCARES through a donation of a percentage of their sales.
• Since VeraniCARES launched in 2015, it has donated more than $55,000 to the communities its agents serve.
• The 2018 May Day celebration is expected to disperse $40,000 in one month alone.

Why VeraniCARES?

More and more companies are recognizing that corporate responsibility initiatives like VeraniCARES are just as important to staff as their local communities. In a 2012 survey by nonprofit NetImpact, 35% of respondents said that all other things being equal, they would take a 15% pay cut to work for a company committed to corporate social responsibility, and 58% would take a 15% pay cut to work for a company with values like their own. Many of our agents are glad to have the opportunity to see their work connect to the community, and agents looking to join Verani Realty often ask about how we give back to the communities we serve. Not only is VeraniCARES the right thing to do, it is the smart thing to do to make sure we have the best, most community-minded agents on our team!

What is May Day?

May Day is a month-long celebration of the communities that support us and the impact we can make when we all work together. Throughout the month, Verani Realty agents will be attending events and project days across the state to raise awareness for important causes, raise money for deserving nonprofits, and help those in need in a few other unique ways.  Here are some examples:

Concord

On Thursday, May 13, a Verani Realty team will participate in Concord Hospital’s Rock'n Road Race to benefit the HOPE Center at The Payson Center for Cancer Care at Concord Hospital. The walk is the largest charity walk north of Boston.

Somerville

Agents from this office will present a donation of $1,500 and participate in the Save our Homes Walk on June 10. This effort supports the Somerville Homeless Coalition, which helps people at risk of losing their housing by providing funds if someone falls short on a rent or needs emergency housing or shelter.

Londonderry

Agents and engaged volunteers will help two local veterans and their families by making important home improvements and helping with tasks they are unable to do or don’t have the funds needed to hire help. Projects will range from installing new appliances to performing structural deck repairs to installing soundproofing materials to create a tranquil space for relaxation.

Bedford

Agents in Bedford have organized a gala and auction night with great prizes, including a 50/50 raffle with proceeds going directly to VeraniCARES. Seacoast

Agents in Verani Realty’s North Andover, Portsmouth, Exeter, and Commercial offices have banded together to organize Stand Up Comedy Night Presented by VeraniCARES with comics Paul D’Angelo, Christine Hurley, and Matt Barry. D'Angelo has been featured on NBC, Showtime, and Comedy Central. Hurley has become a favorite in Boston comedy and will have you laughing all night. Barry is one of Foxwoods’ favorites who explains his struggles of having to grow up and transition into adulthood. It all happens 7 to 10 pm on Thursday, May 24 at the Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury, Mass. All proceeds will benefit Veterans Count. Tickets are $20 each and are being sold EXCLUSIVELY through Verani Realty real estate agents. You can also sponsor a ticket for a veteran if you can't make it, but would still like to support a great cause! Lakes Region

The Verani office in Moultonborough is participating in the first annual Lake Winnipesaukee Spring Cleanup Day on May 12, and the Belmont office will be making a donation to New Beginnings in Laconia. The Belmont team is also gearing up for a busy June as it is hosting its annual charity motorcycle ride and pancake breakfast during Bike Week, so be sure to stay tuned for more details.
