How do you find reputable REALTORS® in New Hampshire?

It’s a question that is commonly asked by new and even seasoned home buyers in NH, and beyond quite frankly. How do you find a REALTOR® that listens and positions you with the best options for your real estate / living needs?

We know it’s not always easy, and on the surface, it may seem awkward to talk about because we’re so passionate about delivering quality, uncompromised service. That said, we can’t speak for the other professionals in our field.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

Is the REALTOR® licensed in New Hampshire?

If you’re looking to buy a home for the first time, or a vacation property on the lake or ocean or even mountains, you’re going to want a REALTOR® that is legally able to “show you around.” It seems elementary, but it’s a question you absolutely need to ask. Just because they tell you they’re experienced in real estate doesn’t mean they are a registered professional.

The other piece that comes hand-in-hand with that notion is, if your REALTOR® is a licensed professional, they know the ins and outs of the different properties and geographic grades that exist in New Hampshire. There’s a lot of unique areas, and in those unique areas, there’s a lot of unique properties. Given New Hampshire’s rich history, there are homes and properties that have been here for hundreds of years, and some that were built yesterday (literally). It’s important to have a licensed REALTOR® that can show you exactly what you want to see.

Does the REALTOR® have references?

If the answer is “no,” then the feedback you’d likely receive while doing the due-diligence of researching the individual in question will probably be negative. Or, if they literally have no references negative or otherwise, they lack in the realm of experience. In short, references are important. Don’t be afraid to ask for them. You’ll learn a lot just by asking the question. If there’s a balk of any kind, it’s a red flag. New Hampshire folk believe in loyalty and trust, therefore, in searching for a reputable realtor in New Hampshire, utilize the skills of just that, someone people can outwardly commend for being loyal, hardworking, and trustworthy.

Is experience important to you?

Riffing on that last entry for a moment… If the REALTOR® in question has no references at all, they’re likely new to the field. There’s nothing wrong with being new. We all need to get our start somewhere, right? That said, what is the value of experience to you when looking to acquire or sell property in New Hampshire? Do you want a sure bet, or do you want to drive around in circles and cruise the “trial-and-error” route when attempting to find your ideal property?
